New web site

The new web site is now fully up and running, and last night's results have been posted to it.

A few people commented that (until this morning) it had some very old results on it. That's because I set up the site from a template on my own laptop, which hasn't seen a "live" BFBC result in years. This is no longer a problem now that I have uploaded a newer result. However, it occurs to me that the site also has the last individual and teams results on it and these will also be very old. It would be quite a hassle for me to dig out the last individual and teams results and repost them and this problem will resolve itself as and when we re-run those competitions and post new results. I therefore propose to do nothing about it unless anyone feels very strongly that the individual and teams results need to be updated.

Please let me know if you have any other problems with the new web site.

Our web site is moving

This is an advanced warning. You don't need to take any action right now.

For many years, the Bracknell Forest Bridge Club web site has been living in spare space on the Bracknell Bridge League's (BBL) web site. This arrangement worked well while I was on the committees of both organisations and saved us a bob or two, because it was free. Unfortunately, I shall be stepping down from the BBL committee at the end of April, which means I can no longer guarantee to be privy to the necessary passwords to post information on the BBL web site. Our club therefore needs a site of its own.

I am currently in the process of setting this up. The address of the new club web site will be BFBridge.org.uk (but that site isn't ready for viewing yet). If I can get it sorted by next Monday then I will make a further announcement at club night. Otherwise, watch this blog for updates.

I am sorry that this will mean you may need to update any links to the club's web site that you have saved in your browser's "favourites" or bookmarks lists but I think our new web address is simpler and therefore more memorable.

When I have created the new site, I shall try to make the old site auto-redirect to the new one in case anyone forgets over the next few weeks.
